sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy. Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half sorrow.

sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy. True happiness is not attained through self-gratification, but
through fidelity to a worthy purpose. Our happiness depends on the habit of mind we
cultivate. So practice happy thinking every day. Cultivate the merry
heart, develop the happiness habit, and life will become a continual
feast. Happiness and misery depend not on how high up or low down you
are--they depend not upond these, but on the direction in which you
are tending. Only one thing has to change for us to know
happiness in our lives: where we focus our attention. Happiness can be defined, in part at least, as the fruit of
the desire and ability to sacrifice what we want now for what we
want eventually. Life isn't supposed to be an all or nothing battle between
misery and bliss. Life isn't supposed to be a battle at all. And
when it comes to happiness, well, sometimes life is just okay,
sometimes it's comfortable, sometimes wonderful, sometimes boring,
sometimes unpleasant. When your day's not perfect, it's not a
failure or a terrible loss. It's just another day. It's a miracle what a smile can do when someone aims one
directly at you! One of the things I keep learning is that the secret of being
happy is doing things for other people. Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but
today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and
every tomorrow a vision of hope. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you
want to be happy, practice compassion. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism.
Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human
can, paradoxically, make you a far happier and more productive
