Social Network Registration Tutorial
To sign up for our Free Social Network and create your first journal or blog, follow these steps.
- From http://social.realmentalhealth.com
Click


- Under New Member, enter the following: (*required field)

- *User ID: Each user must have their own unique User ID. The User ID
is used for account log-in and is displayed in your profile. You should
not use your email address if you do not want it displayed in your
profile. Once your User ID is entered, it cannot be changed.
- *Password: Type a 4 to 15 character password.
- *Confirm Password: Type your password again.
- *Email: Enter your email address. This field can be updated at a
later time.
- Remember My Sign-on: This will allow your User-ID and Password to be saved to allow easier log-in.
- Terms of Service: Select the checkbox to answer the Terms of Service question.

Click [Proceed]
- Under Profile Settings, enter the following information. If you are not
sure what to enter right now, your profile settings can be changed after
your registration is completed.

- My Profile: Select who can view your profile.
- My Bookmarks: Select who can view your Bookmarks.
- Online Status: Select who can instant message you using the Social
Network private instant message feature.
- Receive invitations to join groups and events from: Select who can
send you invitations.
- *Date of Birth: Select your birthday. Your friends will see the day
only.
- Keep Age Secret: Check the box only if you do not wish to appear in the
social network profile age searches using Meet.
- E-Mail Options - Receive All Notifications: You receive an e-mail
to your social network mail box whenever a member takes an action on your account such
as adds you as a friend, flatters you, posts a comment on your Journal etc.
(Your social network mail box is different than your Internet E-mail
account.)
- E-Mail Options - Receive One Notification: You will receive just one
e-mail notification to your social network mail box until you visit the social network again.
- Click [Next].
- Enter your Profile Information. You can very easily update or make
changes to your profile after your registration is completed.

- *Screen Name: This is the name, nickname or user id can be used in the social network to identify yourself. Examples: Jane, Jane S, Depressed Jane. This field can be later modified.
- *I am dealing with: Select a condition for your profile. To select
multiple conditions, hold the the [Ctrl] key and Click on each item.
- *Gender
- *Interested in Meeting People for.
- *Orientation
- *Status
- *City/State/Province: If you wish to be anonymous, you can enter Anytown
or Anycity.
- *Country
- Zip/Postal Code: If you wish to be anonymous, you can enter 99999.
- AIM: Enter your AOL Instant Messaging ID to list it in your profile.
- Yahoo ID: Enter your Yahoo ID if you wish to list it in your profile.
- MSN ID: Enter your MSN ID if you wish to list it in your profile.
- My Website Title: Enter your website title. Examples: My Home Page
My Website URL: Enter your website URL. Examples:

- Personality Traits: Enter your personality traits such as Realistic,
Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional.
- About me: Enter any additional information about yourself.
- Click [Save]
- Under Upload Your Photo, Click [Browse] and follow the prompts on-screen
to upload your photo. You can upload a JPG,
GIF (non animated), or PNG file. (Maximum size of 500k) Click [Skip] to upload a photo a later time.

- Under Invite Your Friends, enter the following:

- Email this link or Post it to your blog or website: Use the copy and paste feature.
- Invitation to join my Social Network: Enter your friends and others email addresses. They will receive an email invitation to join the RealMentalHealth.com Social Network from you.
- Personal Message: Enter a personal message.
- Click [Send] or [Do this later]
- If your registration was successful, you will see the Registration Complete message below.

- My Page (Your Home Page): This link will take you to your
social network home page which is also the [My Page] button on the navigation bar.
- Take the Tour: This link will take you to a tour listing some of the features and benefits of our social network.
Getting Started - Creating your first Journal or Blog
- The first step to creating your journal or blog is to join the
Real Mental Health Group you want your journal or blog to appear in. Use the "Click Here" link in step
7 to log-in to the RealMentalHealth.com Social Network or log-in from the Social
Network home page http://social.realmentalhealth.com,
then Click the [Groups] tab. You will see the screen below. Under Group Topics,
Click the group you want to join.

- Under Group Topics, you will see a list of available groups (Example:
Bipolar and New York Bipolar Disorder). Select the group you want to post your journal. (Note:
at a later time you can optionally elect to keep your journal private, or post it only to friends.)
- Under Info, you will see the Group page you selected, use the "Click here" link to join the group.
- Under Info: you will see the "You are now subscribed" message. In the left navigation,
Click "Add Journal To Group" to continue.

- You will see the screen below. Under Write New Entry, begin writing your Journal or Blog.

- Title: Enter the title of your journal or blog.
- Journal Entry: Enter the date of your journal or blog.
- Visible To: Select who can see your journal or blog.
- Who can comment: Select who can comment on your journal or blog.
- Mood: Select a mood.
- Journal Archives: By default your archive group is miscellaneous. By adding your journal to an archive group, you can post it to multiple RealMentalHealth.com
social network groups such as Depression and Bipolar.
- Advanced Journal Features: Our journals or blogs use the latest in XML technology. From the Journal tool bar,
Click Source to access the source code of your blog
to use any third party applications or code for more advanced blogging features. See Tips for Writing Messages and Journal Entries and our Customer Support Home Page.
- Click [Preview] to view your journal and [Post] to publish it.
